New generation of recommendations: Yandex implements generative models


Researchers at Yandex have developed a new generation of recommendations based on large generative models.


Now the recommendation system takes into account more complex sequences of events, a larger number of impersonal actions, and better understands the tastes and needs of users.


Yandex Music in 2023 started using generative neural networks in recommendations. This is the first service to implement large models in real-time. The algorithms dynamically capture the user's mood and offer more diverse tracks.


The second service to integrate the updated models was Yandex Market. Now it better considers the extended history of actions and provides personalized product recommendations, taking into account seasonal preferences and habits. Over time, other services of the company will transition to the updated recommendation model.
